Australia look up for it. It has been a good opening spell. You have to keep it nice and straight and don’t let the Indian openers free their hands otherwise you’ll get flayed through the off side.

SMS Message: I’m loving this World Cup, but finding it hard to concentrate on the cricket at times due to the incredible number of empty seats. It’s driving me bonkers! If this tournament was being held abroad we’d be up in arms about it. What has gone wrong and can we fix it? Preferably soon! from Con, Wakefield

  3. Ind 18-0

    That will make Shikhar
Dhawan feel better. Pat Cummins gives him just a bit too much width and Dhawan drives the ball through the covers for four.

  4. Ind 13-0

    Pat Cummins is giving Shikhar
Dhawan the workaround. He bowls an absolute beauty of a delivery that moves away from the left-hander and somehow evades the edge of his bat.

There is just a bit of bounce. It’ll be a nice batting track once you get in. It has been a watchful start.

  6. Ind 11-0

Rohit Sharma guides the first ball of the over to third man for one. There’s then some more sharp fielding from Australia as Glenn
    Maxwell dives to deny Shikhar
    Dhawan a boundary at point.

    Good start this by Australia

Rakesh S: One of India’s top 3 should get a big hundred here and bat through. They have Dhoni and Pandya down the line to finish it in style.

  8. Ind 9-0

    Shikhar
Dhawan looks to run a single with the final ball of the over but is quickly sent back by Rohit Sharma.

A few nerves out there for India early on.

  10. Ind 9-0

Another edge! This time from Rohit Sharma as it again flies through that third slip area. Not sure it would have carried though.

  11. Ind 8-0

Pat Cummins continues and finds the edge of Shikhar
Dhawan’s bat but it disappears where third slip would be and India run a single.

    More encouragement for Australia.

  12. Ind 7-0

Rohit Sharma managed to run two from that Nathan
Coulter-Nile drop, though it is perhaps harsh to call it a drop as it was a fine effort. Shikhar
Dhawan is also able to nudge a single into the onside to get off the mark.

    Isa Guha

It hit the base of his hand – he almost dived too far.

That is a fantastic effort. That might have been better than Stokes and Cottrell’s catch. If anything, he dived too well – goalkeeper style.

It was in the air for a while. He had it…

  16. drop-catch

    Rohit dropped on 2

That was nearly an unbelievable catch by Nathan
Coulter-Nile! Rohit Sharma clips the ball off his toes but the diving Coulter-Nile at square leg and only get his fingertips to the ball.

A big let off for India.

Australia seem to have got that strut back and feel that they can beat anyone.

  18. Post update

    Mitchell
Starc has the ball at the other end for Australia…

  19. Ind 2-0

Rohit Sharma pushes the ball square into the offside and runs a quick two to get off the mark. He is then watchful for the rest of the over, playing a couple of defensive shots off the back foot.

The pitch will get lower and slower as the game goes on.
