One of three megaprojects (those valued at $1 billion or more) up for bid this month; the largest of our list may also be the most newsworthy.
In late July 2026, President Donald Trump announced a $22.5 billion renovation for Viriginia’s Dulles International Airport, which serves the Washington, D.C. area.
“Package A” is the first phase of construction, which includes a proposed $4.5 billion to $5 billion expansion of the airport’s main terminal. Bids need to be in by August 19. Construction is scheduled to begin in December 2027, and the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority says everything must be done by 2034. ConstructConnect has the full set of Specifications and Request for Qualifications (RFQ) regarding the first phase (“Package A”) of the Washington Dulles International Airport modernization project (click on “Project Details” above).

From Washington, D.C. to Washington State; the second megaproject on our list takes us to the other side of the country. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking bidders to demolish and rebuild the bridge that carries I-5 traffic through Brush Prairie. This specific project up for bid, is only concerning the section in Brush Prairie, Washington.
Bids are due August 19, with work expected to begin four months later, on October 19.
