Former Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery just keeps stacking highlight plays as he works through the natural learning curve of big‑league baseball. If there’s one thing fans expected to see more of early on, it was his raw power, but he’s slowly showing that it’s starting to come together. Montgomery is currently slugging .369, a slight bump from his previous .360, and while his batting average has dipped a bit, he still looks strong for a rookie who’s in the everyday rotation. The flashes are there and on Saturday against the New York Mets, one of those flashes turned into a thunderclap. Montgomery finished the game 1-for-4, but that one hit was loud.
In the top of the second inning with one out and a 1–2 count, he got a pitch he could handle and didn’t miss it, launching a 419‑foot shot over the right‑field wall for his fifth home run of the season and his first since early August. Baseball is a humbling sport. You take the good with the bad, trust the process, and keep stacking innings until everything clicks.
