An Uttarakhand man has built an electric flying vehicle that, he hopes, will one day make travel in the hills faster and easier. Ravi Tamta, an innovator from Almora district, has developed a single-seat flying car called HAPIDA SKYNeX through his startup, Hapida Sky Private Limited. The prototype has now been successfully test-flown. Unlike conventional aircraft that use aviation fuel, the HAPIDA SKYNeX is designed to run entirely on electricity. The company describes it as a personal flying vehicle aimed at providing a cleaner and more accessible form of transportation. News agency ANI also shared a video of Tamta flying the prototype and described the HAPIDA SKYNeX as a single-seat, all-electric craft based on modified drone technology.

The idea to build a flying vehicle came after he saw the problems faced by people living in mountainous areas. According to local reports, a road journey of around 40 km between his village and home can take nearly 90 minutes.

The prototype was tested in an open area in Almora, with Tamta and his team carrying out the initial flight tests.

Tamta is from Kaflikhan village near Jageshwar Dham in Almora. He has been working on the project for several years, using modified drone technology to develop a vehicle that can carry a person.
He recently shared a video on Instagram showing glimpses of the vehicle and its development. In the video, he said several people had contacted him after the successful demonstration. “After the successful demonstration of the flying car, I couldn’t speak to the media persons.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also shared the video on X. Tamta has denied claims that the flying vehicle was imported from China.
He has invited reporters to visit his manufacturing unit to see how it was developed. HAPIDA SKYNeX is still in the prototype stage and is not ready for commercial use yet. (Edited by : Sudarsanan Mani)
