Antonio Valencia and Ander Herrera have had their summer exits confirmed by Manchester United .
The Old Trafford giants are preparing for a huge squad overhaul ahead of next season and popular duo Valencia and Herrera are among 15 players to be released after coming to the end of their contracts.
United opted against offering Valencia a new deal and the United captain, who arrived at the club 10 years ago, has been touted with a switch to the MLS.
Midfielder Herrera had already announced his exit last month after failing to agree terms on an extension at Old Trafford, and is expected to sign for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
James Wilson is also among the departures after United opted against triggering a one-year extension in the striker’s current contract.
The forward announced himself to the Old Trafford faithful in sensational fashion five years ago, when the then 18-year-old notched two goals on his debut in a 3-1 victory over Hull City.
But he has failed to kick on since then, after a combination of injuries and failed loan moves, and will now seek pastures new after leaving the club he joined as a young boy.
Regan Poole, who played just three minutes of first-team football under Louis van Gaal, is another familiar academy player to part ways with the Red Devils.
Out-of-contract players Juan Mata, Alex Fojticek, Paul Woolston and Luca Ercolan have all been offered fresh terms, while United have opted to extend Aidan Barlow’s deal.
These departures come on the same day United confirmed the imminent arrival of highly-rated Swansea winger Daniel James.
United have confirmed a deal has been agreed “in principle” with both Swansea and the 21-year-old Wales international.
It is understood United will pay Swansea £18million, including add-ons, for the Wales international, with the move expected to be formally completed on Tuesday.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed, in principle, terms with both Swansea and Daniel James for his transfer to the club,” a statement on the Premier League side’s official website read.
“Daniel has successfully completed a medical at the Aon Training Complex. Further details will be communicated once the international transfer window opens next week.”
