The Washington Commanders didn’t change their name or bring back the old logo this offseason, but they did the next best thing. Washington got rid of the uniforms they’d worn for the past four seasons in favor of the Super Bowl-era uniforms they wore as alternates for three games last season. They’re permanent now. It was a move that made almost everyone happy — we say almost because you’ll never make everyone happy. Washington also added the burgundy jerseys from the same era and added a new black alternate called the “Hail Raisers.”
The new “Hail Raisers” are redesigned black uniforms that look much better than the previous black alternates, complete with a new black helmet featuring the “W” logo with a spear.
On Thursday, Washington revealed its uniform schedule for 2026. While there is excitement surrounding the new “old” look, there was some disappointment regarding the “Hail Raiser” jerseys. The Commanders will only wear the new black alternates for two games in 2026: Week 11 vs. the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football and Week 15 vs. the Atlanta Falcons.
