Every season, there seems to be a clear consensus best player in college football going into the season. This year that player might be Jeremiah Smith. Since his freshman season, there weren’t too many on the field better than him. There will be conversations about him going No. 1 next season in the NFL draft or at least in the top five. Right now, the conversations will be about how college football teams such as the USC Trojans will stop him.
In a recent article, Dalton Wasserman and Max Chadwick list Jeremiah Smith as the best player in college football once again. Here is what they had to say about the star Buckeye:
“Smith tops this list for the second straight year, joining Trevor Lawrence as the only player to do so. Over his first two college seasons, Smith leads all wide receivers in PFF receiving grade (92.9), receiving yards (2,554) and receiving touchdowns (27). He also leads all wide receivers in PFF Wins Above Average (PFF WAA) over that span. Smith is a generational talent at the position who will have NFL teams tripping over themselves to draft him in 2027.”
Jeremiah Smith has earned the reputation as the best player in college football with two straight elite seasons. When he is on the field, the Buckeyes have a chance against any team. If the Trojans let him in Week 11, he can take over that game and deliver the Buckeyes a big win towards the end of the regular season just off of his performance alone.
