(City of San Antonio)SAN ANTONIO – City leaders said Friday morning that they are monitoring dozens of nursing homes and long-term care facilities in the San Antonio area for potential COVID-19 outbreaks after 75 cases and one death were confirmed at a facility on the Southeast Side.Seven of those facilities are of specific concern, officials said, because staff members from Southeast Nursing & Rehabilitation on Southcross also spent time caring for residents at those locations.“Of the eight staff members who are COVID positive, we know that two of them worked in other facilities,” Hood said. “And the staff members who have not been tested, we know they worked in at least 7 facilities in the city. That number is going to grow as we interview staff members.”At least two of the facilities — both nursing homes, Advanced Rehab in Live Oak and The Village at Incarnate Word — have confirmed that at least one staff member who was infected at Southeast has recently worked at their facilities.At Southeast Nursing & Rehabilitation, which has a one-star rating from federal regulators based on recent inspections, 67 of the 84 residents and eight staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.RELATED: Southeast Nursing & Rehabilitation Center was fined $60,000, cited for 28 violations in 2019Of the seven facilities total, five are nursing homes and each have poor health ratings, according to federal regulators. Both facilities are operated and managed by the same company.
