Texas A&M’s 2026 campaign was objectively stronger than the 2025 season, and while head coach Michael Earley enters 2027 still under pressure, the seat is undeniably cooler.
The Aggies addressed their most urgent need by adding proven, veteran bats through the transfer portal. With Gavin Grahovac, Caden Sorrell, Chris Hacopian, and Bear Harrison all departing for professional baseball, Texas A&M faced a massive production void. The returning young talent is promising, but the lineup needed experience, on‑base ability, and players who have already succeeded at the highest levels of college baseball. Earley and his staff delivered, landing three hitters ranked inside D1Baseball’s Top 50 Transfer Hitters List. The headliner is former Clemson catcher Nate Savoie, who checked in at No. 3 overall, the highest of the trio.
Savoie slashed .329/.413/.569 with a 1.009 OPS, 75 hits, 13 doubles, 16 home runs, and 52 RBI in 2026. He earned Third‑Team All‑ACC honors, and Perfect Game ranked him the No.
50 sophomore in the nation entering last season. His combination of offensive consistency and defensive leadership makes him one of the most impactful additions of the entire portal cycle. Former Western Kentucky infielder Lane Arroyos, who led the Hilltoppers in nearly every major offensive category last season, landed at No. 31 on the list.
He brings positional versatility and a strong track record of production stretching back to his junior college days. Rounding out the group is former Oklahoma outfielder Alec Blair, ranked No. 35, giving the Aggies another athletic, experienced bat capable of competing for immediate at‑bats. Taken together, these additions give Texas A&M exactly what it needed. Hitters with proven numbers, positional flexibility, and the ability to stabilize a lineup undergoing major turnover. Earley still has plenty to prove, but entering 2027, the Aggies look far better equipped to withstand the losses and remain competitive in the SEC.
