According to Rapoport, the league is “trying all sorts of legal maneuvers” to get the video of the incident. Jacobs’ trial was initially slated to take place on November 17th. That date was recently moved up to today, signaling that Jacobs wanted to wrap up his legal proceedings quickly. He has been on the Commissioner’s Exempt List since the end of training camp. Roger Goodell could have kept him on the list indefinitely, especially with the trial previously scheduled multiple months into the season. With the legal matter now settled, Jacobs will likely serve a minor suspension as a result of the charges.
MarShawn Lloyd is expected to handle the bulk of the carries until he returns. The NFL placed Jacobs on the Commissioner Exempt List on August 30th, which prevents him from practicing with the team and playing in NFL games. The NFL acts independently and can make its own decision as to whether Jacobs’ behavior warrants a suspension. That said, rulings or evidence presented in court could impact the league’s decision-making. This could be consequential. Jacobs on Sunday was placed on the Commissioners Exempt List while his legal situation plays out. Jacobs in May was arrested and booked on five charges, including felony strangulation. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Monday that Jacobs’ time on the exempt list was, for now, indefinite, and hinged entirely on how his legal situation unfolds. If damning video evidence is released, Jacobs could miss most or all of the regular season. MarShawn Lloyd would start the year as Green Bay’s lead back and has a chance to be one of fantasy’s best running back values. Jacobs was charged on two misdemeanors last week after initially being arrested in late May on five counts, including one felony.
Jacobs will still be paid but will be unable to participate in practice while he remains on the exempt list, although players are typically allowed to participate in team meetings. There is no telling how long Jacobs will remain on the exempt list as only the Commissioner holds the authority to remove him. Jacobs’ initial appearance in court is not scheduled until November, coinciding with Week 11, leaving a wide range of outcomes for fantasy managers to begin the season. Reading the tea leaves paints a morbid picture for Jacobs’ availability to start the 2026 regular season in less than two short weeks. MarShawn Lloyd suddenly finds himself atop the backfield depth chart in Green Bay and is a priority waiver addition for leagues that have already drafted, and should be treated as an upside back in the middle rounds of drafts.
“I fully anticipate him being a member of our team,” LaFleur said. “You’ve got to let everything play out.” Jacobs was charged with two misdemeanors related to his May arrest earlier this week. An NFL spokesman said on Thursday that the matter remains under review.
According to the criminal complaint, Jacobs grabbed a woman, threw her to the ground and she struck her head. His initial court appearance is scheduled for November 17, though the NFL doesn’t have to wait for the legal process to be completed before deciding on a potential suspension for Jacobs. While the Packers are standing behind Jacobs for now, that could always change, making Jacobs a risky RB2 investment in fantasy drafts. Pelissero reminds us that Jacobs was “originally booked on five charges, including felony strangulation.” He now faces “reduced charges of misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property.” The NFL continues to monitor all developments in the matter, which remains under review. Jacobs could end up being suspended. His backups are RB MarShawn Lloyd, who has performed well all spring and summer, and RB Chris Brooks.
Lloyd should be a priority in drafts at this time. According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, the police department’s full incident report indicates that the department is in possession of a video showing Jacobs striking a woman after throwing her to the ground. “We’ve obviously been preparing for that in case that happens,” Gutekunst said when asked about Jacobs, who in May was arrested on domestic abuse charges. “But at the same time, I feel really good about the guys we have in that room.” ESPN’s Adam Schefter said in August that the league would likely suspend Jacobs, though the length of the suspension had yet to be determined. MarShawn Lloyd would likely function as Green Bay’s lead back if Jacobs — who’s dealing with a lingering groin issue — misses regular season games. The oft-injured Lloyd has stayed healthy this offseason and has reportedly run well in training camp and joint practices. In last week’s preseason game against Denver, Lloyd played on 5-of-7 snaps during the first drive with the team’s starters.
Jacobs has been out since August 6 with a groin injury, but the 28-year-old running back will return to practice on Tuesday. With the possibility of a suspension still looming if the league finds that he violated the Personal Conduct policy, Jacobs is a risky RB2 going in the fourth round of fantasy drafts. He is still the starting running back in what has been an efficient offense, but 28-year-old running backs have certainly enjoyed better circumstances in the lead-up to a new season. Ryan Flournoy caught 2-of-4 targets for 22 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Giants. The veteran receiver inked a one-year contract extension this offseason to retain his supporting role in the high-powered Dallas offense, but the early returns were less than inspiring. Flournoy appeared to have a stranglehold on the WR3 duties for the Cowboys but will be hard-pressed to return consistent fantasy production for as long as both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens remain healthy. He’ll be a boom-bust WR4 in a plus matchup against the Commanders in Week 2.

Jake Ferguson caught both targets for six yards in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Giants. The Cowboys were dominated in both time of possession and total offense on a night the Giants converted 9-of-10 third downs, resulting in the poor showing in the box scores for the veteran tight end. Ferguson’s stark fantasy splits when both CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens are healthy remain a concern for fantasy managers that invested a middle-round pick in his services, something that a home matchup against a forgiving Commanders defense could remedy. Even so, Ferguson is nothing more than a middling TE2 in Week 2. DAL

George Pickens caught 3-of-6 targets for 28 yards in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Giants. Pickens picked up two early receptions on the team’s first two possessions, contributing further by drawing a defensive pass interference penalty that would set up a CeeDee Lamb touchdown in the second quarter. An untimely drop on third down near the end of the first quarter halted any momentum he had in the box score as he would go on to notch a lone additional catch the rest of the game.
The Cowboys managed only 52 offensive plays as they were dominated in both total offense and time of possession, while watching their defense allow the Giants to go 9-of-10 on third down. It is likely we see much more inspiring fantasy production the remainder of the season as Pickens plays out the year on the franchise tag. He enters a Week 2 home showdown against the Commanders as an upside WR2. DAL

CeeDee Lamb caught 5-of-8 targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Giants. Although eventually leading the team in both targets and receiving, Lamb got off to a slow start while committing an early drop.
He would score from one yard out in the second quarter after a Javonte Williams touchdown was ruled short of the goal line and also draw a defensive pass interference penalty in the second half that would lead to a Williams score, but he was otherwise removed from the game through defensive scheming. Better days are likely ahead for the perennial WR1, which starts in a Week 2 home showdown against another divisional opponent in the Commanders. DAL

Javonte Williams rushed 12 times for 41 yards and a touchdown in the Cowboys’ Week 1 loss to the Giants, adding five receptions for 31 yards and a touchdown. Williams understandably operated as a clear workhorse for a Cowboys team with little depth at the position following Malik Davis’ season-ending injury earlier in the week. His two second half scores and five receptions masked poor rushing efficiency on a night the Cowboys ran only 52 offensive plays, although a robust 32.7 percent total opportunity share foreshadows the potential for continued elite counting stats for the remainder of the regular season. Fantasy managers can continue to start Williams as a volume-driven RB1 as the team prepares to host the Commanders in Week 2. DAL

Dak Prescott completed 22-of-34 passes for 175 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the Cowboys’ 28-20, Week 1 loss to the Giants, adding 14 yards on two carries.
A first half in which Prescott was victimized by drops and penalties from his supporting cast was completely overshadowed by a defensive performance that saw the Giants go 9-of-10 on third down and amass 394 yards of total offense. The Cowboys saw the ball only twice in the second half, scoring touchdowns on both drives, but it was ultimately not enough as they fall to 0-1 for the second consecutive season. Prescott’s lone interception came on a prayer ball down the sideline on third down at the end of the first half, eventually leading to a go-ahead touchdown as the Giants took a 14-7 lead into the break, a lead they would not relinquish.
The Cowboys now turn the page to Week 2 as they prepare to host another division opponent in the Commanders in what has quickly become a near must-win game for both teams, where Prescott will look to return to the QB1 ranks in a plus matchup. TEN

Elic Ayomanor caught 1-of-3 targets for an 11-yard touchdown in the Titans’ Week 1 loss to the Jets. Ayomanor’s score came deep into garbage time with the Titans trailing 23-3. 23-year-old Ayomanor had an impressive rookie year for a fourth-round pick in 2025, but he’s now buried behind Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson in the Titans’ receiver corps. This is not an offense that is going to be producing consistent production out of the No.
3 receiver spot. We’ll let you know if Ayomanor becomes 12-team league relevant, but don’t count on it. MIA

De’Von Achane rushed 11 times for 36 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 loss to the Raiders, adding four receptions for 30 yards. Aside from QB Malik Willis, Achane was the only Dolphins player who touched the ball throughout the entire first quarter, totaling 25 scrimmage yards on three carries and two receptions.
Unfortunately, the Raiders jumped out to a 10-0 lead early in the second quarter, forcing the Dolphins into a pass-heavy game script. Willis focused on aggressive downfield throws as the game progressed, which in turn limited Achane to 15 touches on the day, and only Willis entered the end zone. Achane looked like his normal speedy self, but unfavorable game scripts could be an issue for him all year. He is an RB2 against the 49ers in Week 2.

Braelon Allen rushed 10 times for 40 yards in the Jets’ Week 1 win over the Titans. The only Jets back to touch the ball behind Breece Hall — Isaiah Davis was not heard from — Allen was mixed in throughout the game as a true breather back. As in, he did not rack up a disproportionate amount of his touches with the Jets looking to kill the clock late in a sleepy victory. Allen actually notched a nifty 23-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but it was called back by holding. Although Allen would undoubtedly form a committee with Davis in the event of a Hall injury, it is clear he would be the strong-side.
He’s a high-upside contingency back heading in to Week 2 against the Packers. MIA

Greg Dulcich caught 2-of-2 targets for 18 yards in the Dolphins’ Week 1 loss to the Raiders. Both of Dulcich’s targets occurred on the third drive. One was a six-yarder via play action. The other was a delayed screen pass, which Dulcich admirably ran for 12 yards, picking up a first down along the way. The fact that he was barely involved in a pass-heavy game script bodes poorly for his TE1 viability. He does not need to be rostered in 12-team leagues heading into Week 2.
