The agent of former Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has spoken out after a surprise report claimed the Reds legend had agreed a transfer to Besiktas. The Egypt international is currently a free agent after leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, calling time on a legendary career at Anfield. However, it seems that Salah’s agent Ramy Abass Issa is not aware of his client having chosen his next club. See below as Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna posted on X about Salah agreeing a one-year deal to join Besiktas on a stunning €10m-a-year contract, as well as bonuses…

However, it seems this reporter may have jumped the gun a little with this story, as Salah’s agent has since posted to suggest he still doesn’t know where the 34-year-old will be playing next season. See below for the X post, which seems like it’s likely a bit of a dig questioning the validity of Aouna’s story…

I personally do not know where Mohamed will play next season. What does that tell you? — Ramy Abbas Issa (@RamyCol) July 17, 2026

What next for Mohamed Salah? Salah will likely have been busy focusing on the World Cup with Egypt, so it makes sense that a transfer hasn’t been sorted yet this summer. There has been a lot of speculation similar to this, though, with La Repubblica recently claiming that Juventus are keen on the former LFC man.

We’ve previously been informed about Salah holding positive talks over joining Fenerbahce, but this was never reported as a full agreement, while we also mentioned our information on interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. Salah will likely have a huge amount of interest as he’s still a top player, even if his final season at Liverpool was far from his best.

The Egypt international would likely still be able to tear it up in a league like Turkey or Saudi Arabia, so that could make sense as a next destination for him, but it seems we’re still short of a full agreement or final decision.
