Global supply chains and online marketplaces are adding to incident complexity, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

FSA was notified of 2,073 food and feed safety incidents in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales during 2025-2026; this is an increase of 14 percent from 1,825 in the previous year. There has also been a rise in high and medium priority incidents with the potential for severe public health impact, continuing a trend seen in recent years.
