Four emerging risks identified in EFSA report

Bongkrekic acid and the illegal use of a substance to give the appearance of fish freshness were examples of emerging risks discussed in a recent report about problems in Europe in 2025.

A total of 55 topics were considered, of which 43 were analyzed in-depth and 25 were considered relevant for the Emerging Risks Exchange Network (EREN) and the Stakeholder Discussion Group on Emerging Risks. Four issues were identified as emerging risks, while several others required further information.
