I did a Feed post a few weeks ago in which I ranked all of the ‘starting caliber’ QBs in the NFL based off of 9 separate metrics from the 2025 season. I had to include 2024 season stats for just a couple of the QBs to get a larger sample size, though. After thinking about it a bit, that seems somewhat unfair. Plus, in light of the new QB Index metric that was recently unveiled, which I disagree with on many levels, I decided to do a ranking for all the QBs using a composite of both the ’24 & ’25 seasons combined…as opposed to just considering ’25 stats for most of the QBs.
This gives us a larger sample size for all, which should result in a better overall unbiased picture. I analyzed all QBs that met the minimum threshold of 1,000 total yards across the ’24 & ’25 seasons combined. I added a 10th metric this time, too. The following stats were considered: Games, Win%, Total TD/Turnover Ratio, Completion%, Total Yards/Snap, Passer Rating, QBR, PFF Grade, NFL Buzz Score & Pro Football Reference (PFR) Average Value (AV)… Games – I awarded 1 point for regular season Games Started, 1.1 for PlayOff starts & 1.2 for SuperBowl starts. I awarded 0.1 for Games played in (non-starts) & 0.2 for PlayOff Games played in. TD/TO Ratio – I used Total TDs (Passing, Rushing & Receiving) vs.
Total Turnovers (INTs & Fumbles Lost). Yards/Snap – I considered Total Yards (Passing, Rushing & Receiving). I calculated it per Snap, instead of per Game, for more accuracy. Passer Rating – I used an online Passer Rating Calculator to 3 decimal points. QBR – I took the stats from ESPN & calculated the weighted average based on Passing & Rushing Attempts.
PFF Grade, NFL Buzz Score & PFR AV – I took the weighted average based on Snaps. I only considered PlayOff stats when they helped a QB’s score for a particular metric in a season. This was possible for most metrics, though it appeared to have minimal effects. However, NFL Buzz Score always considers PlayOff performance, while AV only uses regular season stats.
I converted each stat to a scale of 0-100% to get the percentile. I then calculated the average to arrive at one number so each QB could be ranked. Considering 2 full seasons of commonly used stats definitely had an impact on the rankings. A total of 54 QBs met the minimum threshold. The named starters are in regular font, while the rest are in italics. Players w/only one season of stats are noted w/an asterick*.

The Browns are just pitiful. Malik Willis appears to have greatly benefitted from a small sample size. Jalen Hurts coming in at #8 was a pleasant surprise (no back-ups ahead of him either)…also nice seeing Dak where he belongs, at #17 😁
