Dallas Cowboys fans have been begging for Von Miller for what seems like decades. Heading into the 2026 season, that dream is now a reality. After weeks of romance on social media from the future Hall of Famer, the Cowboys announced on Sunday night that Miller will be wearing a star in 2026. Miller arrived in Oxnard on Wednesday and spoke to the media for the first time before the Cowboys joint practice with the New Orleans Saints. It’s been mentioned multiple times since the signing about what Miller will bring to the locker room as a teammate, culture builder, and mentor to Donovan Ezeiruaku and Malachi Lawrence.

But in the Cowboys last practice in Oxnard, the media in attendance were able to get a first-hand look at what Miller will be brining to the field for the Christian Parker led defense in 2026. Miller saw very limited work in the team drills on Thursday (no video permitted during team drills), but he took advantage of the few opportunities he got in his first practice with the Cowboys. According to Nick Harris of the Star Telegram, Miller played four snaps in the team portion of practice and had a pressure against Terence Steele on his first rep. Clarence Hill Jr. of DLLS Cowboys, also reported that Miller had two pressures during team period against Steele and also “bulldozed” Nate Thomas on another rep.

The Cowboys do not need Miller to play 40-50 snaps a game. They brought him in to make an impact in obvious pass situations, and from the looks of his first practice with the Cowboys, he’s still able to do that at a pretty high level.

Miller will unlikely see any action in the preseason, so we will have to wait for the Cowboys to return to Frisco before we get more updates on Miller’s play on the field, but the early (and limited) return on the Miller signing seems to be all positive in his first week in Dallas.
