Notre Dame’s coaching staff is still searching for the best five players for its offensive line.
When Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman met with the media prior to fall camp getting starter, he went over a few of the position battles that were taking place. Once of those was along the offensive line, as he noted that the coaching staff is still looking for the best five, and on Tuesday a new contender has emerged. During practice, Jack Soble captured a clip of Styles Prescod working with the first team alongside Guerby Lambert and Ashton Craig. There are plenty of others that are vying for starting spots as Anthonie Knapp, Will Black, and Sullivan Absher are also in the mix. A freshman could emerge as well, but with plenty of veterans, it’d be hard to say who and at which position.
Prescod is entering his third season in South Bend, and he’s worked hard to get this kind of opportunity. There wasn’t much recruiting fanfare when he signed, but it’s looking like he’s could see the field this fall. Even if it’s not as a starter, building depth in what many expect to be a long season is a big key to success.
