Mumbai’s GSB Seva Mandal unveiled the first look of its Maha Ganpati idol at the ‘Virat Darshan’ ceremony in the King’s Circle area, ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. The GSB Seva Mandal, considered the richest Ganesh mandal in Mumbai, is preparing for its 72nd Shree Ganeshotsav celebrations, which will be held from September 14 to 18 at Sukriteendra Nagar in King’s Circle. The mandal has been organising the Ganpati festival since 1955.
Its celebrations include various poojas and sevas, with devotees visiting the pandal from across India and abroad. The Maha Ganpati idol is eco-friendly and is adorned with gold and silver embellishments. According to the organisers, the idol will feature more than 66 kg of gold and 335 kg of silver ornaments during the five-day celebrations. The mandal has taken an insurance cover of ₹703.27 crore for this year’s Ganeshotsav, up from ₹474 crore last year. As part of its Go Green initiative, the mandal has also introduced digital receipts with QR codes for donations and pooja and seva bookings. (Edited by : priyanka deshpande)
