The Times has also noted that City are hopeful of completing a deal to bring Atlético Madrid midfielder Rodri to the club before they fly to China as part of their pre-season preparations next week.

Premier League new boys Sheffield United are set to complete the signing of Luke Freeman from QPR in a £3m deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Blades boss Chris Wilder said: “The club is pretty close to completing the deal for Luke. We’re close to getting that over the line and hopefully Luke will become a Sheffield United player later today.”

Wilder is also offering a potential Premier League return for former Manchester United and West Ham player Ravel Morrison. The 26-year-old was most recently playing in Sweden with Östersund and will join Sheffield United on their pre-season trip to Portugal.

According to Spanish paper Sport, Barcelona have also rejected a €70m offer from Bayern Munich for Ousmane Dembélé as the Bavarian giants continue to look for replacements for Franck Ribéry and Arjen Robben.

The Catalan club would not be interested in selling the 22-year-old for anything less than €95m, which would still represent a loss on the bonus-laden €140m they paid Borussia Dortmund for the Frenchman in 2017.
