The Eagles have announced five inactive players for Sunday’s season opener against the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field. Quarterbacks Tanner McKee and Cole Payton, wide receiver Elijah Moore, edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, and offensive lineman Micah Morris will not have standard active status for the divisional matchup. McKee was designated as Philadelphia’s emergency third quarterback, confirming that Andy Dalton will back up Jalen Hurts. McKee can enter the game if Hurts and Dalton are unavailable because of injury or disqualification. Payton, meanwhile, is a standard inactive. Greenard was ruled out Friday because of a pectoral injury that limited him during practice.
His absence will leave Philadelphia without one of its most experienced edge rushers, creating additional opportunities for Jalyx Hunt, Arnold Ebiketie, Nolan Smith Jr., and others in the rotation. Moore is a healthy scratch despite making the initial 53-man roster following a strong training camp. His absence leaves DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown, Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks and Darius Cooper as Philadelphia’s active wide receivers. Morris is the only offensive lineman on the inactive list. Rookie tight end Eli Stowers, who entered the weekend questionable with a hamstring injury, is active and available for the opener.
