Reports are growing that Tottenham Hotspur will offer €15m plus Toby Alderweireld for Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo.
Zaniolo had been expected to sign a new contract with Roma, but talks have stalled and Calciomercato.com warns sporting director Gianluca Petrachi cancelled a meeting on Wednesday as ‘renewals aren’t a priority’.
Despite the Giallorossi’s need to rebuild their squad, they also risk losing Stephan El Shaarawy and making Cengiz Under unhappy, with the website claiming the pair are asking for their contracts to be tweaked too.
As a result, Gazzetta dello Sport and The Daily Mail both report Tottenham are ready to dive in with a bid of €15m plus Alderweireld, who is valued at €25m.
Although the Belgian is one of the first names on Spurs’ team sheet, he has only one year left on his contract and has yet to agree terms on a new deal.
The 30-year-old would be a direct replacement for Kostas Manolas, who recently joined Napoli.
