It wasn’t always pretty, but the Florida State Seminoles beat the New Mexico State Aggies 34-17 on Saturday to open the 2026 season 1-0. New Mexico State was able to keep the game close into the fourth quarter, with FSU scoring a touchdown with just over four minutes to play to take a 17-point lead.

While FSU’s offensive line struggled to protect Ashton Daniels and open holes, the running backs had a monster night. Ousmane Kromah got the start and led the way, finishing with 115 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries. Quintrevion Wisner had just four carries, but averaged 8.5 yards per carry. Samuel Singleton Jr. did it all for the Seminoles, carrying the ball nine times for 42 yards and a touchdown, catching four passes for 54 yards and another touchdown. He also had a 46-yard kick return, which set up his rushing touchdown.

It wasn’t all good, though; FSU led just 17-7 at halftime. Daniels was constantly under pressure, and FSU’s defensive line struggled to pressure New Mexico State’s Trey Hedden, finishing with just 3.0 sacks and having to blitz frequently.

The defense also struggled to get off the field, with the Aggies converting on 10 of their 17 of their third downs. Here is a look at how FSU fans reacted to the Seminoles beating New Mexico State.
