Nic Scourton’s second season in the NFL has already come to an end. As announced on Friday morning, the Carolina Panthers have placed Scourton on injured reserve. The 21-year-old outside linebacker was carted off from the opening session of training camp on Thursday, with multiple reports indicating that he sustained a torn ACL. Head coach Dave Canales spoke on the possibility of Scourton missing time following yesterday’s practice. “We got guys,” Canales told reporters.
“That’s why we keep bringing in depth and talent and different guys. Jaelan Phillips in that room, Pat Jones is back and Princely [Umanmielen] is coming along. We got a whole group of guys that we’re counting on. So if comes to that, we have guys that we trust and we’re gonna ask to do different things.”
Scourton, a second-round pick from the 2025 NFL Draft, tied for a team-leading 5.0 sacks during his rookie campaign. The Panthers also announced that they’ve waived guard Joshua Gray. Follow @ThePanthersWire on Twitter/X for more Panthers content.
