Roma have officially appointed former Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca as their new Coach.
The 46-year-old had been in Ukraine since 2016 and was due to remain until June 2020, but he negotiated an early exit after Roma came calling.
There was a gentleman’s agreement with Shakhtar to release Fonseca after he won three consecutive League and Cup trophies, plus the 2017-18 Ukrainian Super Cup.
His previous clubs include Pacos Ferreira, Porto and Braga, where he won the Portuguese Super Cup and Portuguese Cup.
Fonseca has impressed with his all-out-attack style of play and has a fondness for the high press.
He has signed a two-year contract with the Giallorossi with the option for a third, worth a reported €2m per season.
