Inter have announced the return of Gabriele Oriali, who takes up the role of first-team technical manager.

A statement on Inter’s official website confirms Oriali has signed a contract until 2022 and will start work on Monday.

The 66-year-old will also continue to be Italy’s team manager until next summer, providing they qualify for Euro 2020.

A club legend with almost 400 appearances for the Nerazzurri, he was also part of the Azzurri’s 1982 World Cup-winning team.

He later fulfilled various roles within the Beneamata’s hierarchy between 1999 and 2010, only leaving after a bitter row with then-technical director Marco Branca.

He has been Italy’s team manager since 2014, linking up with then-CT Antonio Conte, who is now in charge of Inter.
