Great persistence by Cristiano Ronaldo as he keeps the ball alive as Portugal break quickly. He plays the ball into the box for Rúben Dias but his cross is put behind for another corner.
Bernardo Silva’s flick on is headed behind by Marten de Roon and Jose Fonte almost gets his head to the resulting corner but Jasper Cillessen just about gathers.
Lively start to the second half!

Memphis Depay slips in Georginio Wijnaldum, he looks offside but the flag stays down. Wijnaldum charges towards goal and attempts to lift the ball over Rui Patrício but the Portugal goalkeeper gets a hand to it.
Now the flag goes up for offside.Wijnaldum is probably relieved it would not have counted.

When you see the pace that Portugal break at it is understandable why Netherlands are keeping players back.
Once again Portugal charge up the pitch after the visitors lose possession, Bernardo Silva finding Nelson Semedo on the right side of the box, but his ball into the area is way beyond Cristiano Ronaldo.
Soon after, Bruno Fernandes lashes an effort over. The hosts are edging that bit closer to the opener.

Just two of the Netherlands’ 11 goals in the Uefa Nations League have been scored in the first half. They definitely appear to be taking a cautious approach as they are not committing many players to support their rare attacks.

A chance for Portugal from a corner. Its a free header for Jose Fonte but he doesn’t connect with it well and its an easy catch for Jasper Cillessen. Looks like the whistle had gone for a foul in the box anyway.

Cristiano Ronaldo is being given license to operate anywhere in that final third but he’s not really seen much of the ball in the places where he can potentially hurt the Netherlands. The visitors’ defence is marshaling him pretty well so far.
