The 2026 Little League World Series is underway. For baseball fans, the annual competition in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, is a chance to watch additional action as MLB nears the postseason.

For fans in the Northwest, Washington’s win over Alabama was a respite from the Seattle Mariners’ abysmal 22-0 loss. Once the professional league turns to the playoffs, each round consists of a series. The Wild Card round is best-of-three and the competition builds to the best-of-seven World Series.

Back in 2022, Little League expanded the baseball tournament to 20 teams, opening up questions of if the tradition of double elimination would remain.

“Playing just one game at any of our World Series tournaments would not provide enough of the once-in-a-lifetime experience Little League players and their families deserve,” Little League said in an explainer at the time. ” … All players will have plenty of opportunities to make memories that will last a lifetime and compete against teams from around the world.”
