India will host back-to-back BRICS industry and trade ministerial meetings in Jaipur this week as part of its 2026 chairmanship of the grouping, with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal set to lead the Indian delegation.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia will also represent India at the meetings. The 10th BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting will be held on August 6, where ministers and senior officials from BRICS member countries are expected to discuss ways to strengthen industrial cooperation, promote innovation and advance sustainable and inclusive industrial development, according to the DPIIT. The meeting follows the 4th BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR) Advisory Group Meeting, hosted by the DPIIT in New Delhi on August 3 and 4. Officials from BRICS countries reviewed progress under the PartNIR initiative and discussed cooperation in areas including MSMEs, photovoltaics, startups and logistics ahead of the ministerial meeting.
India will also chair the BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7. Ahead of that, the 3rd meeting of the BRICS Contact Group on Economic and Trade Issues (CGETI) was held in New Delhi on August 3 and 4 to advance discussions on trade-related priorities. India assumed the BRICS chairmanship on January 1, 2026, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” The chairmanship focuses on strengthening cooperation across areas such as trade, investment, technology, industrial development and finance. The meetings in Jaipur are expected to help shape the bloc’s agenda on industrial and economic cooperation during India’s year-long presidency.
