Napoli defender Elseid Hysaj remains Atletico Madrid’s top right-back target, but Sassuolo’s Pol Lirola has reportedly emerged as an alternative.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira reports Los Rojiblancos had a €15m-plus-bonuses offer turned down by the Azzurri and could now turn their attentions towards the 21-year-old.
Hysaj is available for transfer this summer, but Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis values him around the €25m mark – a fee that Atleti have yet to meet.
Lirola, for his part, joined Juventus from Espanyol in 2015 but failed to break into the Bianconeri’s first team and was transferred to Sassuolo a year later.
He scored twice in 38 games between League and cup competitions for the Neroverdi last season and is in the Spain squad who will take part at the European Under-21 Championship.
