The love of football has always been apparent in the family of Tua Tagovailoa. After all, his younger brother, Taulia Tagovailoa, played quarterback at Maryland, and two of his cousins also played at least at the college level, with one, Myron Tagovailoa-Amos, spending time with the Raiders. However, it seems Tua’s younger brother is far from finished with his football career, and Team USA’s flag football team found that out the hard way. As Yahoo Sports highlighted, Team USA hadn’t lost in a competitive flag football game since 2012, a streak that came to an end at the 2026 Flag Football World Championships. Their first loss in 14 years came at the hands of American Samoa, with a score of 38-32—a team quarterbacked by none other than Taulia Tagovailoa. To make the story even more incredible? Tagovailoa threw five touchdown passes in the upset victory.
To be fair, it’s not like Taulia just hopped off the couch and joined the American Samoa flag football team; he was still playing as recently as this year in the United Football League for the Houston Gamblers. However, the UFL departed from Houston as part of a realignment and will now be adding two replacement markets. He also spent time in the Canadian Football League, European League of Football and Indoor Football League.
