Leandro Paredes was involved in a scuffle with Eric Garcia and Gavi as Spain celebrated their win, with Lionel Scaloni having to pull his midfielder away from that bust-up. Argentina managed just 34.9% possession while also committing 25 fouls to Spain’s 21, and Kroos, who won the World Cup with Germany in 2014, made his feelings clear on X. In a two-word social media post, Kroos simply said: “Football won.”
Argentina have now finished as runners-up at the World Cup for the fourth time (also 1930, 1990 and 2014), the joint-most of any side, along with Germany.
