Star wide receiver Deebo Samuel is still a free agent and was recently mentioned as a potential fit for the Kansas City Chiefs in Bleacher Report’s list of eight roster moves that need to be made heading into training camp this year.
”[Chiefs head coach Andy] Reid can flex his creative play-calling chops with Deebo Samuel,” Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton said of Samuel’s potential utility for Kansas City. “The versatile playmaker can pick up yards as a receiver on the perimeter or in the slot and occasionally take handoffs out of the backfield.”
The Chiefs could stand to add another playmaker at the wide receiver position and may also need one more capable rusher, even after Kansas City’s front office invested in pass-catchers and running backs in free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft. Samuel’s ability to make plays in jet sweep motions and other unconventional run sets could make him a logical addition for the Chiefs — if general manager Brett Veach can afford the veteran’s demands in contract negotiations.
