Microsoft has embedded Easter eggs in its Xbox E3 countdown videos that combine to form the RGB code for Scarlett, the codename for the next generation of Xbox consoles. Microsoft is expected to talk about Scarlett and also reveal 14 first-party games for the Xbox along with new developments on Windows 10 gaming and Project xCloud.
Microsoft’s E3 2019 event is all set to kick off in a few hours from now and there’s increasing anticipation about upcoming Xbox consoles. In true Xbox style, Microsoft’s E3 countdown videos had Easter eggs pointing towards hints about ‘Scarlett’, the codename for Xbox gen next.
Spotted by user @Cr8Beyond on Twitter, each of the Xbox E3 countdown videos contained one the following codes: R 255, G 36, and B 0. Put together, they form the code RGB (255,36,0) that stands for the color Scarlett. Apparently, Microsoft even confirmed the teaser and provided the user with a free month of Xbox Game Pass for discovering the Easter egg. Microsoft pulled off a similar trick before the reveal of the Xbox One X at E3 2017 so it is relatively safe to assume that there will be a definite announcement regarding Scarlett at today’s keynote.
From what we know so far, the Xbox Scarlett family will have ‘Anaconda’ and ‘Lockhart’ SKUs with Anaconda expected to feature cutting-edge hardware including a custom AMD Zen CPU and Navi GPU with 16 GB GDDR6 RAM and a 1 TB NVMe SSD. Recent rumor even hinted that the upcoming Xbox is likely to even outperform the PlayStation 5 when it comes to raw performance.
Nevertheless, we expect Xbox Chief Phil Spencer to detail the Xbox Scarlett family of consoles today so things should be clear shortly. Also expected today are reveals of Gears 5, Bleeding Edge, and 12 other first-party titles. We also expect to hear about Microsoft’s plans for gaming on Windows 10 PCs and Project xCloud cloud-gaming service, which is being touted as a competitor to Google Stadia.
You can watch the live stream of Microsoft’s E3 2019 keynote on Mixer, YouTube, Twitch, or Twitter starting 1 PM PT today.
