The controversial Zing bails and stumps being used in the Cricket World Cup will not be changed by the ICC despite several incidents where they have not been dislodged when the ball has hit the wicket.
The bails contain flashing lights which are illuminated when the bails are dislodged, making them heavier than regular wooden bails. However, they are lighter than the heavy variety that umpires use on particularly windy days when the normal lighter bails can be blown off the stumps.
There have been five incidents so far in the first 13 matches of this World Cup where the ball has either clipped the stumps or clattered them, only for the bails to remain in their grooves and fail to light up. The bails…
