With less than a minute remaining on the clock, the Indian executed a superb attack to earn a waza-ari, taking a lead that he defended confidently until the final buzzer to secure the biggest title of his career. The victory capped an impressive campaign for Harsh, who had looked in complete control throughout the day. He began his run with an ippon victory over Malawi’s Chikondi Kathewera before overcoming Vanuatu’s Alan Monthouel in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Harsh edged past Australia’s Pedro Carlos Antun Neto by waza-ari to set up another meeting with an Australian opponent in the gold medal bout.
