The Chicago Bears got welcoming news in their final week of preseason action on Wednesday, as wide receiver Luther Burden returned to practice. Burden had missed the last couple of weeks of training camp and the preseason with a groin injury he sustained back on Aug. 8, but he has made his way onto the practice field ahead of the team’s final preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday. But he was not the only Bears player getting back on the field this week.
Getting healthy just before the regular season is set to begin, the following health updates were provided from Wednesday’s practice: Darnell Wright (injured Tuesday) was back on the field, Burden was back and did individual work, safety Elijah Hicks was back and even ran with the 1s during 7 on 7 play, while Tyrique Stevenson and Tyson Bagent returned in full. Rookie linebacker Keyshaun Elliott who was activated off the PUP list this week also made his return. The fact that players are getting back on the practice field is a good sign for the Chicago Bears, but several of them still have work to do to be ready for the regular season opener against the Carolina Panthers.
Burden’s presence back on the field should help the offense get all their weapons in place before Week 1, as he is set to play a big role for quarterback Caleb Williams along with Rome Odunze and Colston Loveland this season. Follow Bears Wire on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram
