Chael Sonnen is a featured figure on the sophomore season of Darkside of the Cage, and a former foe of his, who was also spotlighted on DSOTC season 2, laughed at the notion that Sonnen would belong on a series like that. Darkside of the Cage on Vice TV is dropping episodes from its sophomore season, in which Miller and Sonnen both received their own specific episode spotlights. The two shared the cage with one another in March 2002 at HFP 1: Rumble on the Reservation in Anza, California. This was a clash whereby Sonnen handed Miller the latter’s first-ever professional MMA loss via unanimous decision. While discussing his own Darkside of the Cage feature and referencing that Chael Sonnen is also getting an episode on DSOTC for the show’s second season, Miller said [via Bowks Talking Bouts ],

“Like why? Why?

Did he cheat his taxes? Was that the sad part of it? Oh man, when he beat the s**t out of Anderson Silva for four [rounds], for 24 and a half minutes, and then just accidentally got tapped out. That’s the sad part of Chael Sonnen? The part where he has the best-selling book and podcast?”

“I don’t see the sadness in this man. When he grew up in Oregon and his dad didn’t make $100,000 per year? I don’t know, man.

I hope that he gets to the bottom of it [and] his suffering ends… You could just laugh, bro. You polite man.

You polite man. He kept his composure and said, “That’s so funny, man.

I’m Canadian.””

Chael Sonnen is a man of multiple monikers, and ‘The Bad Guy’ was something that the former WEC title challenger sank his teeth into as he aimed to make waves in the media to campaign for a UFC title shot. Deciding to stand out by pointedly calling out the widely revered Anderson Silva and becoming a progenitor of a lot of the MMA trash talk we have seen since, Sonnen stated,

“The first time I told somebody, ‘I was the best in the world, not him,’ I remember pausing after I said it so they could interrupt me or they could push back. And they didn’t. All of a sudden I get another media opportunity.
