‘Borderlands 3’: ‘Borderlands 2’ DLC leaked for June 9 – Tech News – The Star Online

A free additional adventure for Borderlands 2 appears to have been confirmed by an online listing for the Steam store, while its proposed June 9 release date coincides with a high-profile presentation from promotional partner Xbox.

Commander Lilith And The Fight For Sanctuary promises to take players back to the alien planet of Pandora, home soil for Borderlands 1 (2008) and Borderlands 2 (2012) but only one of several planets in September 2019’s Borderlands 3.

The city of Sanctuary, a hub location for much of Borderlands 2 and abandoned in favour of a spaceship in Borderlands 3, has been placed under siege, while a toxic gas has poisoned the planet, according to a product description from the since-removed Steam listing.

Players can expect to fight new enemies, explore new areas, and collect new loot, the description confirming that a Rainbow rarity of equipment found in updated Borderlands 2 game code was laying the groundwork for a new item tier in Commander Lilith.

Store images for the Commander Lilith pack showed enemies with plant-like mutations, generic characters planted upside down in the ground like root vegetables, weaponry and a vehicle with new marbled multicolour coatings and evidence of invasive plant growth.

Returning characters include Borderlands 1 player characters and Borderlands 2 supporting cast members Lilith and Brick, as well as Borderlands 2 support Tiny Tina, who has been seen in a video trailer for Borderlands 3, and Borderlands 2 player character Salvador, whose Borderlands 3 fate is currently unknown.

New players – including those benefiting from July’s Borderlands Handsome Collection freebie via PlayStation Plus, this week’s 90%+ reduction on Steam, or any upcoming Xbox sale – will find themselves boosted to level 30 for immediate access to the Commander Lilith expansion, while end-game level caps are being raised from 72 to 80.

Xbox’s presentation at the 2019 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2019) begins at 1pm on June 9. Xbox branding was present at the Borderlands 3 gameplay reveal at the start of May 2019, and Microsoft’s gaming division has been linked with a rumored promotional deal since April 2018.
