It isn’t unreasonable for Cincinnati Bengals fans to expect the team to get active in free agency again during training camp.
The Bengals like to make smaller little moves during camp some years, especially if the injury bug hits. Think, that wildly successful trade that swapped Billy Price for BJ Hill.
Going into training camp at the end of the month, the Bengals have obvious big depth needs at spots like linebacker and cornerback.
Asked about whether another move is on the way, The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr. reminded fans of the Noah Fant and Dalton Risner signings one year ago.

“I do think another move is coming,” Dehner wrote.
“That could be a trade in the Billy Price-B.J. Hill mold, where one of the odd men out on the defensive line fetches a veteran linebacker or corner.”
In other words, it could be a smaller move to bolster a needy spot. At linebacker, Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight are big gambles as starters. A year removed from botching having quality depth around them, the Bengals might try again during camp.

Similar story at cornerback, where the Bengals don’t have a surefire starter in the slot yet. That doesn’t mean they go out and find a starter on the market, but Jalen Davis, Josh Newton and Ja’Sir Taylor will need to show the coaches that they don’t need to go add competition.
As always, if it’s not a signing in free agency, this sort of activity could be a trade or grabbing someone on the waiver wire, too. Either way, the Bengals certainly aren’t all the way done making outside additions.
