The development boosted investor confidence in Alibaba as the company prepares to release its June quarter financial results in the coming days. This innovative platform equips merchants with comprehensive AI-driven tools designed to transition traditional digital operations into sophisticated AI-enabled systems. Businesses currently operating without artificial intelligence capabilities can transform their existing pages, product catalogs and operational processes into what Alipay terms “agent-ready skills.”

The cornerstone of this ecosystem is Ah Bao, Alipay’s artificial intelligence assistant unveiled in June.
This agent enables consumers to interact with over 10,000 AI-enhanced services using conversational language, handling everything from utility bill payments to restaurant reservations. Major brands such as KFC, Luckin Coffee and Mixue Bingcheng have already integrated their services with Ah Bao. Customers can complete orders and process payments simply by conversing with the AI agent, eliminating the need to switch between different applications.
Extensive Device Integration
According to Alipay, Ah Bao currently maintains connections with five leading smartphone manufacturers collectively holding over 70% of the market, alongside 16 automotive manufacturers. The company leverages its AHA protocol to enable merchant services across diverse platforms including smartphones, vehicles, AI-enabled eyewear and additional connected devices.
Ant Group’s CEO Cyril Han expressed optimism about the platform’s trajectory. “Agentic commerce is poised for rapid growth over the next 6 to 12 months,” Han stated. Among notable collaborations is a partnership with foundation model developer StepFun, which enables its users to access everyday services through Ah Bao on StepFun’s AI-native hardware. Additionally, OPPO has integrated its Breeno AI agent with the services offered through Ah Bao.
Developer Support Programs
To accelerate adoption among developers and business owners, Alipay introduced its AI Business Incentive Program. The initiative provides 100 million complimentary tokens per participant, transaction subsidies and discounted payment processing fees. Alipay’s network currently links over one billion consumers with more than 80 million merchants throughout China, facilitating access to in excess of 10,000 services across sectors including travel, medical care and entertainment. The platform’s official introduction occurred during Alipay’s AI Ecosystem Partner Conference held in Hangzhou on Tuesday, August 18.
