Abercrombie’s Latest ’90s-Inspired NFL Collection Provides the Perfect Alternatives to Basic Jerseys

This has to be my favorite new release this year, by far. I can wear it to the office on or after game day, and the light wash gives hints of your classic ’90s denim. It’s also perfect for fall layering, which is a little less “in your face” than a jersey over a hoodie. Anything sports-related that I can rock at the workplace gets brownie points.

Believe it or not, the most-searched item this year was “Knicks baseball hat.” Understandable, given the gravity of their recent championship. But I thought the baseball element was interesting. They’re pretty en vogue now, and the corduroy ones are making a comeback. I think Abercrombie’s might be the most top-tier out there, and of course, I’m partial to the Cowboys one.

This is another piece you can get away with wearing, well, pretty much everywhere. It offers another throwback look, with a couple of logos to show off your fandom. It’s made of a slightly heavier material than some of the other options, too, so it might even get you into the late stages of the playoffs. If your team makes it, of course.

This is a solid two-for-one special, and both sides evoke different eras of your favorite team. The main side screams ’90s, and the navy blue offers an intentional fade to go all-in on retro. The alternate side looks like it came straight out of the Roger Staubach era, and we’re certainly not complaining. It’s nice to have options.

We might be a little out of season on this one, but I don’t care; it rules. It almost feels like Golden-era WWE meets the NFL, and I’m all for it. I’ve become a big fan of the muscle tee tank top in my 30s, and unlike in my 20s, it’s become a socially acceptable piece of casual, everyday wear. At the very least, you can get away with wearing it outside of the gym, which wasn’t always the case in my heyday.

I love a good pair of 5-inch shorts, especially when they’re unlined. They’re great for the gym, and I prefer the higher cut when I’m going for a more casual, athleisure look. With these, I can show the world I’m a Cowboys fan and simultaneously spare myself the embarrassment when they go 8-8-1 this year. A win-win.

It pains me to add a Jets-themed shirt here, but I tend to think this one looks the best. There are a few options, and this shirt is a little more subtle than some of the other vintage-looking ones, but the heavyweight material, relaxed fit, and subtle design make for the perfect undershirt or standalone fit.

This is one of my favorites, but there’s a key reason it’s last on the list—it was out last year. Still, it’s probably the best NFL quarter-zip out there. A lot of the others are pretty plain and feature a simple logo. This one, though, has some sleek cursive and complementary colors that help show off a little extra team spirit. And who doesn’t want that?
