Rams updates How to watch 49ers vs. Rams NFL Week 1 schedule In the NFL’s first-ever game in Australia, the San Francisco 49ers cruised over the Los Angeles Rams 27-7 with dominance on both sides of the ball. The story of the game was perhaps the 49ers’ defense, which held the Rams to just seven points, which is fewer than any output the Rams produced in 2025. San Francisco forced two turnovers, one Matthew Stafford interception and another Tyler Higbee fumble, and executed a turnover-on-downs on 4th-and-short at the goal line.

On offense, new addition Mike Evans made an immediate impact as Brock Purdy found him several times on third down, including once in the end zone. That was also just one of three Purdy scores, as he also found DeMarcus Robinson and Deebo Samuel for touchdowns in the game.

The Rams head home following a disappointing effort as their strategy to arrive in Australia less than two days before the game backfired. Stafford was off, failing to throw for a touchdown, while the new-look defense had holes that the Niners exploited. Myles Garrett in particular was noticeably quiet, as he didn’t produce a sack or a QB hit in the game. Garrett seemed to be dealing with conditioning issues while also managing a lower-body injury, which sidelined him for some of training camp. The win is a big divisional outcome for San Francisco, which takes an early edge on the Rams in the race for the NFC West.

The two teams will meet again in December, with the 49ers hosting that game in Santa Clara.
