The penultimate event on the 2026 PGA Tour schedule brought the top 50 in the FedEx Cup standings to Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis for the BMW Championship.
As was the case at last week’s St. Jude Championship, another $20 million purse is on the line. With just 50 players in the field this week, everyone is guaranteed at least $66,000, with the top 40 all earning at least a six-figure payday. The winner will take home a $3.6 million paycheck, as the playoff events boast the same purse structure as the non-cut signature events on the PGA Tour schedule.
Players this week aren’t just jockeying for payouts from the BMW Championship purse, however. They are angling for spots in the FedEx Cup standings, which will determine their share of the massive bonus pool that is paid out before next week’s Tour Championship.
That alone boasts a $40 million purse and pays $10 million to the winner
Last week’s winner, Scottie Scheffler, locked himself into the top spot in the standings, guaranteeing a $23 million bonus no matter where he finishes Sunday at the BMW Championship.
Everyone else’s position on the bonus list is up for grabs, as are some key spots around the top 30 bubble, and that adds to the stress players are feeling in St. Louis this week. As for the BMW Championship itself, the complete payout breakdown for this week’s $20 million purse is below.
