Louise Lawford (pictured above) had been walking the dogs in Staffordshire when she claims they were spooked by gunshots

Distraught pet owners have said a professional dog walker let their beloved companions die rather than run off as she had previously claimed.

Animal lover Becky Parsons has hit out at Louise Lawford after being told by police that her missing dogs Pablo and Maggie are dead.

Becky, 39, said on social media that her ‘heart had been shattered’ by the news, that came after dog walker Ms Lawford claimed she had been out walking five dogs when they were spooked by gun shots in Staffordshire.

Suspicions grew over the welfare over the animals when Ms Lawford failed to take calls from three dog owners and also was vacant from her property.

A second owner said she had been told by police not to reveal how the dogs had died in case it prejudiced a criminal investigation.

In a Facebook post Becky, who lives in Birmingham, said: ‘You let us have false hope. You let hundreds of people join us in a desperate search.

‘My heart is shattered. My beautiful irreplaceable babies are never coming home.

‘It’s taken five weeks to get the truth. Five weeks of torture and agony.’

She added that Ms Lawford had allowed people to ‘desperately’ search for the pooches.

‘You let the army be deployed to the area you say they were lost. You let our dogs die.

‘Our lives will never be the same we will never forgive you, we will get justice.

‘She didn’t even tell her family and has put them through hell running away and hiding . . . going on holiday while everyone suffered and searched.’

The dead dogs were pugs Charlie, three and Ralph, five, as well as French bulldog Brindle Jack, which was just 18 months old.

Ralph and Charlie’s owner April Lock from Sutton Coldfield revealed she had been advised by police not to reveal any details of the case due to an ongoing investigation.

She said: ‘Our babies didn’t deserve this.’

Ralph and Charlie pictured above also went missing and their owner April Lock said her life will ‘never be the same’

She wrote of Ralph: ‘Without you, life just is not ever going to be the same.

‘I just have no words . . . I can’t even come close to explaining the pain.’

Last month West Midlands Police confirmed they were investigating and inquiries were ‘ongoing’.

In a statement the force said: ‘West Midlands Police is aware a number of dogs have gone missing while under the care of a dog sitter based in the Birmingham area.

‘Inquiries are ongoing to understand what has happened to the dogs and whether any criminal offences have taken place.’

MailOnline has contacted West Midlands Police. Ms Lawford was unavailable for comment.
