Insight provided into Tottenham’s January plans for Djed Spence

An insight into the plans of the powers that be at Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur for out-of-favour defender Djed Spence has been forthcoming late on Saturday.

The subject of Spence’s future beyond January, of course, has long proven a major talking point amongst the Spurs faithful.

This comes amid the 22-year-old’s ongoing struggles for game-time in north London.

Spence, a gifted young full-back, was lured to Tottenham during the summer, expected to swiftly kick on towards a starting berth on the back of a stellar season-long stint with Nottingham Forest.

The weeks and months since, however, have proven altogether less fruitful for the English youth international.

Sitting behind both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty in boss Antonio Conte’s right-back pecking order, Spence has been afforded a paltry four appearances, for a grand total of 28 minutes on the pitch.

Altogether inevitable speculation, in turn, had begun to spread of late, pointing towards a potential loan move away from north London for Spence, following the turn of the year.

If the latest word stemming from the media late on Saturday is anything to go by, however, then such a development, at present, looks altogether unlikely.

As per reliable Spurs reporter Alasdair Gold:

“From what I understand, from those around him, there hasn’t been any indication that he is to be sent out on loan in January.”
