Quinn Beadle, 17, hanged herself from a tree at the end of her street last December

A teenager spiralled into depression and hanged herself from a tree at the end of her street after it was alleged she was groomed by an older man.

Quinn Beadle, 17, took her own life just yards from her front door on December 9, 2018.

Quinn, from Durham, had ordered her favourite takeaway dish, a chicken korma, before announcing to her family that she was ‘popping out’.

Twenty minutes later, her father David, 38, stumbled across the tragic scene while walking their dogs after noticing police and paramedics crowded near the area.

The parents described it as ‘just another day’, with the teenager baking and watching TV with her mother before ordering the takeaway.

But Quinn has been battling depression after it was alleged a man in his 50s groomed her over a three-month period in December 2016.

Her mother Tracey, 39, told the Mirror Online: ‘Quinn was our beautiful 17-year-old daughter, she was kind, funny, stubborn, quirky, crazy and amazing.

‘Sadly one day, she decided that life was just too hard for her. We saw a change in Quinn after this [grooming allegations]. She just went very secretive.

Mrs Beadle said her daughter (left and right) spiralled into depression after it was alleged a man in his 50s groomed her over a three-month period in December 2016

The family have since turned the tree into a memorial for Quinn, complete with candles, flowers, bird boxes and lights

‘She didn’t want to be around people. She was very down. She always saw the best in everyone and she felt that trust had been broken.’

Durham Police investigated the allegations but no arrests were made. Quinn was referred to a social worker for eight weeks and seen by CAHMS in March 2017.

In June 2018 last year, she was prescribed anti-depressants after telling her GP she was ‘feeling down’.

At an inquest into Quinn’s death, assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden said she was not satisfied she could make a conclusion after listening to all of the witness evidence.

Her loved ones said they initially had to resist the urge to chop the tree down to ease their pain

They’ve also fitted a bench on the site with a dedicated plaque paying tribute to the teen

Love like starlight never dies: The plaque describes Quinn as their ‘little mouse’ and says the 17-year-old left them ‘far too soon’

A date has not been set for the inquest to continue. The family have since turned the tree into a memorial for Quinn, complete with candles, flowers, bird boxes and lights. They have also set up a charity, Quinn’s Retreat to help other families going through a similar ordeal.

Her loved ones said they initially had to resist the urge to chop the tree down to ease their pain.

They’ve also fitted a bench on the site with a dedicated plaque paying tribute to the teen.
