Delta Air Lines Inc. said Friday that it will resume its flights to South Africa beginning on Aug. 1, with flights between Johannesburg and Atlanta using the new Airbus A350-900 aircraft.

The U.S. airline company said that the resumption of the service between the two destinations marks the milestone of restoring service to all its pre-pandemic markets in Africa.

Delta noted that it had been more than one year since the company had paused flights to South Africa.

Moreover, the company also said that the flights will debut the Airbus A350-900, Delta’s newest aircraft in its fleet.

“Delta is currently operating nearly 20 weekly flights to its African markets, including daily service between Atlanta and Lagos as well as between New York-JFK and Accra, and five-times-a-week service between JFK and Dakar. On July 8, Delta will resume four-times-weekly service to Lagos from JFK as well,” the company said.
