Miralem Pjanic has admitted that though Cristiano Ronaldo was disappointed with his departure at Juventus, but he endorsed his move to Barcelona.

The pair had successful spells with the Bianconeri winning two Serie A titles following the arrival of the Portuguese superstar from Real Madrid in 2018.

Ronaldo spent nine seasons at the Spanish capital and his bitter rivalry with Lionel Messi and Barcelona would have made the 35-year-old make a negative comment about the club.

Pjanic told Mundo Deportivo:

“He was disappointed that I was leaving Juventus, but he told me that he thinks I will have a lot of fun in a great team like Barcelona.

“Cristiano has been very professional at Juventus, he is a player who has shown many things and has been very important in the dressing room, setting an example for everyone.”

Pjanic who joined Bara for £45.8million, with Arthur Melo going the other way for £66m revealed that the culture of La Blaugrana was key to getting him move to Camp Nou.

He added:

“The mentality is the important thing and the one they have is unique.

“They play for many years at a top level and for that you have to be focused on your work, you have to love football.

“They always want to improve in all competitions, they are an example for everyone.”
