Wazito FC 1-1 Tusker: Brewers drop vital points again in title race
The Brewers have continued to lose ground in their quest to win the title after settling to a second straight draw at Utalii grounds
Tusker suffered yet another blow in their quest to win the FKF Premier League title after battling to a 1-1 draw against Wazito FC at Utalii grounds on Friday.
The Brewers, who have enjoyed the top spot in the 18-team table for the better part of the season since dislodging KCB, have now registered two consecutive draws, results that have seen their closest challengers keep closing in on them.
It was Tusker who took a deserved lead in the 4th minute when Sammy Meja curled in a free-kick from outside the box, but it took a wicked deflection and into the net, giving Wazito goalkeeper Levis Opiyo no time to save it.

But Wazito levelled matters in the 20th minute when a blunder from Tusker custodian Emery Mvuyekure, who spilled the ball, allowed midfielder Kevin Kimani to score into an empty.
Tusker under Robert Matano came into the match knowing a win was what they needed after rejuvenated champions Gor Mahia picked their second straight win since the league resumed with a 2-1 win against Sofapaka at Wundanyi Stadium on Thursday.
The win meant Gor Mahia had cut Tusker’s lead at the top to nine points and the Brewers needed to win to widen their account but it was not the case as Wazito under coach Francis Kimanzi, kept their composure to snatch a point having lost the reverse fixture 1-0.
Matano made two changes to Tusker’s starting XI dropping James Macharia and Henry Meja into the bench with their places being taken by Chris Onyango and George Odhiambo.
Tusker started the game with a very high speed and it was no surprise when Wazito conceded a free-kick outside the danger zone with only four minutes played and Meja took the honours to convert it, and his effort tricked past the Wazito defenders to beat keeper Opiyo.
But Wazito did not take time to level matters as in the 20th minute Kimani punished Tusker’s Mvuyekure mistake to hit the ball to an empty and make the scores 1-1 and score his sixth goal of the season.
On resumption, despite Matano making four straight changes – bringing on Macharia, Humphrey Mieno, Kepha, and Henry Meja, for George Odhiambo, Otieno Apollo, Hashim Sempala, and Luke Namanda, the changes did not bore any fruits as Wazito held on to snatch a draw.
