Watch Barbara Walters say ‘this is 2020’ over the years to ring in the new decade

If you’re living under a rock and don’t know what year we’re going into, Barbara Walters is here to help.
“This is 2020,” the former ABC anchor says over and over again in EW’s exclusive compilation video ahead of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2020. The annual holiday special will ring in the new decade tomorrow night with this fun clip featuring Walters’ famous introduction on 20/20.

While serving as an anchor on the news program, the legendary broadcaster’s blazers and co-anchors may have changed over the years, but viewers could always count on Walters’ familiar greeting. Joining the show in 1979, Walters retired in 2004 after 25 years, before becoming a part-time contributor for ABC News until 2016.
A trailblazer for women in journalism, Walters was the first female co-anchor of a network evening news program when she appeared on the ABC Evening News. She also hosted Today and The View.

As for the rest of ABC’s rockin’ New Year’s Eve special, viewers will be treated to a live performance by Post Malone from New York City’s Times Square. Also taking the stage will be BTS, Sam Hunt, and Alanis Morissette, performing for the first time with the cast of the Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill. Catch all the action on Tuesday beginning at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

20/20 is in its 42nd season. New episodes air Fridays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
