Days after some protesters stormed the United States (US)’s seat of power, Capitol Hill in Washington DC, the truth is finally as to who inspired the move.

The Republican majority leader also claimed that the protesters took part in the violent rally because they were “fed lies” by the outgoing president.

McConnel also alleged that the pro-Trump supporters were pushed by some other powerful persons in the nation’s corridor of power.

However, he was grateful for the fact that lawmakers still succeeded in conducting a smooth inaugural session that led to the certifying of Joe Biden’s election victory.

McConnel said:

“The last time the Senate convened, we had just reclaimed the Capitol from violent criminals. The mob was fed lies, they were provoked by the president and other powerful people.

“But we pressed on. We stood together and said an angry mob would not get veto power over the rule of law in our nation, not even for one night.”

“We certified the people’s choice for their 46th president. Tomorrow, President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris will be sworn in.”

Meanwhile, a supporter of Trump had shot himself after he was arrested during the violent Capitol Hill siege in Washington DC.

Christopher Stanton Georgia, 53, was reported to have shot himself in the chest at his home in Alpharetta, on Saturday, January 9.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner ruled on the case. His wife had found him in the basement of the home they shared.

Court documents showed that the father of two was facing charges of attempting to enter the US Capitol grounds against the will of the police.
